CHRISTMAS IS FOR CHILDREN

One of the great joys of Christmas is to share it with children, whether your own, grandchildren or nieces and nephews.

If you don't have any accessible you can always borrow some, well sort of – why not help out at a local children's charity with their Christmas activities – donate a present to one of the community welfare trees for disadvantaged children.

CHRISTMAS WITH PWP FRIENDS

Another joy of Christmas time is to share it with your PWP friends – support the various branch functions during this period – don't stay home alone – get out and add some cheer to our many PWP functions. The branches all have something on – so there are no excuses.

Have a great Christmas and see you at one of the functions. All the best.

Ross, State President

.PWP DOES IT AGAIN.

CITY OF SYDNEY BRANCH 40th BIRTHDAY

The Branch had a great night to celebrate the 40th birthday. It was well attended with representatives of all the branches supporting our City of Sydney branch friends. President Peter and the branches committee should be congratulated on keeping the tradition of a great branch thriving – and thank you to all the committee members and hosts over the past 40 years – the making of legends – such is the branch and its long history in supporting single parents and their children. Kathy's who is a regular friendly and welcoming host help make this a great night for all.

==== IN THE SKY THIS WEEK ====

The Full Moon is Monday December 24. Mars rises progressively in the north-eastern sky, and is near the Moon on Sunday December 23. On Christmas Day, Mars is at opposition – you can best view the planet through a telescope between December 20 and January 3. Even without a telescope, you can see Mars forming a triangle with the red stars Alderbaran in Taurus and Betelgeuse in Orion, with the beautiful Pleiades cluster nearby. In the early morning Saturn can be seen high above the north-eastern horizon and Venus can be easily seen above the eastern horizon. On Friday December 28 the Moon will be near Saturn. Venus enters the head of Scorpius in January, and on Thursday January 3 Venus is very close to the bright star Beta Scorpii. On the morning of January 5 the crescent Moon, Venus and the bright star Antares form an attractive triangle. Mercury enters the evening twilight sky in January, on Wednesday January 9 the thin crescent Moon is just below Mercury. More

The Child Support Agency needs parents to update their contact details

Significant changes are being made to the Child Support Scheme from 1 July 2008 and all child support payments will need to be reassessed. The Child Support Agency (CSA) is currently running a campaign between now and the end of July 2007 to make sure they have the most up-to-date contact details for all parents. The CSA needs all of their customers to update their contact details so they can let them know about the changes, and so CSA can make sure they get the new assessments right.

:-) One Clever Kid's "Bible in a Nutshell"

In the beginning, which occurred near the start, there was nothing but God, darkness, and some gas. The Bible says, "The Lord thy God is one," but I think He must be a lot older than that. Anyway, God said, "Give me a light!" and someone did. Then God made the world.

He split the Adam and made Eve. Adam and Eve were naked, but they weren't embarrassed because mirrors hadn't been invented yet. Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating one bad apple, so they were driven from the Garden of Eden. Not sure what they were driven in though, because they didn't have cars.

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel. Pretty soon all of the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something.

One of the next important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a Ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy is Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable. God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then He gave them His Top Ten Commandments. These include don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbour's stuff. Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and thy mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town.

After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me. After Solomon there were a bunch of major league prophets. One of these was Jonah, who was swallowed by a big whale and then barfed up on the shore. There were also some minor league prophets, but I guess we don't have to worry about them.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of the New Testament. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn, too, because my mum is always saying to me, "Close the door! Were you born in a barn?" It would be nice to say, "As a matter of fact, I was.") During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Republicans. Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst one was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.

Jesus was a great man. He healed many leopards and even preached to some Germans on the Mount. But the Republicans and all those guys put Jesus on trial before Pontius the Pilot. Pilot didn't stick up for Jesus. He just washed his hands instead.

Anyways, Jesus died for our sins, then came back to life again. He went up to Heaven but will be back at the end of the Aluminum. His return is foretold in the book of Revolution.

(Thanks, Suzee)

Now, Where Was I?

Have you ever found yourself looking for the last place you were working in a long MS Word document?

You know, it's a 10, 20, 30 page monster and you were working on something somewhere in the middle when you last saved and closed it out.

When you reopened the document, the cursor was on page one, in the top left hand corner. So, there you are, patiently scrolling through the mess, trying to find your lost location.

Want a quick way to go right back to the last place you edited? Yes? (Of course, who wouldn't want to eliminate all that searching?!)

Next time you need to return to the exact location of your last edit, simply try Shift + F5.

Here's a bit of bad news for Word 2007 users though: This trick works within the same editing session, but not when you reopen a file.

For everyone else, you'll find that two easy keys, Shift + F5, will do the trick really quick!
