.STATE PRESIDENT'S DESK
A NEW LIFE MEMBER
Life Membership is the highest honour PWP can pay one of it's member. A maximum of only one can be awarded in a year, and only awarded for outstanding contribution to PWP at both the Branch as well as at the State level. We would like to congratulate Kim Crane on being awarded Life Membership. Kim has made a significant contribution to PWP in over a decade. She has previously held so many positions in PWP some of which have been State Publications Director, Hills Branch President and at the Hills Branch she has been Children's Program Coordinator, Parent Program Coordinator, Vice President Programs, Vice president Administration, Music Director just to name a few. She has been tireless in contributing to the fund raising efforts of PWP at the state and branch level. She has hosted many parties, barbeques and drop-ins at her home as well organized many dances, harbour cruises, excursions, dinners, outings, picnics, amusement days and more than 30 other activities that I can remember. She has mentored many new committee members, help out her fellow committee members consistently. She has always been there as a volunteer on hospitality, door duty, setting up, packing up and cleaning up. She has been a sympathetic ear to many. She has been Single Mother of the Year, the top fund raiser for the year and previously awarded the Medallion of Services, Certificate of Service & President's Award. She donates a lot of extra time to the state office above her hours and has been proactive in marketing and representing us to the media. She is easily a most worthy and deserving candidate for Life Membership. Kim we really appreciate what you have done for all of us and PWP.

.PWP DOES IT AGAIN
PWP 40th BIRTHDAY DINNER DANCE
Wow what a SELL OUT night. Yes it was fully booked with some on the waiting list (sorry you have to get in quick for these great nights.) The band rocked – we just wanted to keep going all night. Great food and plenty of it. Wonderful company with all our friends from PWP. It was great to see all the branches represented. The hall was nicely decorated. A special thank you to Julie for organizing this very special 40th birthday celebration for PWP in NSW. It was nice to have our federal Member of Parliament there to present the much deserved Life Membership Award to Kim C. Geoff our MC for the night did a great job. A special thanks for all those who helped behind the scenes that were selling tickets, carting the gear, setting-up the hall, cleaning up later. Some great raffle prizes added to the night. We definitely have to do something again with that great band "Bad Sneakers" – thanks guys for a lot of fun and entertainment. Next time buy your tickets early so you will not be disappointed.

:-) Explains a few things!
You might not have known this, but a lot of non-living objects are actually either male or female.
Here are some examples:
FREEZER BAGS: They are male, because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them.
PHOTOCOPIERS: These are female, because once turned off, it takes a while to warm them up again.
They are an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can also wreak havoc if you push the wrong buttons.
TYRES: Tires are male, because they go bald easily and are often over inflated.
HOT AIR BALLOONS: Also a male object, because to get them to go anywhere, you have to light a fire under their arse
SPONGES: These are female, because they are soft, squeezable and retain water.
WEB PAGES: Female, because they're constantly being looked at and frequently getting hit on.
TRAINS: Definitely male, because they always use the same old lines for picking up people.
EGG TIMERS: Egg timers are female because, over time, all the weight shifts to the bottom.
HAMMERS: Male, because in the last 5000 years, they've hardly changed at all, and are occasionally handy to have around.
THE REMOTE CONTROL: Female. Ha! You probably thought it would be male, but consider this: It easily gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost without it, and while he doesn't always know which buttons to push, he
just keeps trying

-COMPUTING TIP-
Protect Your CDs - Avoid Using Labels
Attaching expensive, self-adhesive labels to the CDs and DVDs you have burned is not a good idea. Why? Well, because attaching labels might not let the computer drive identify the CDs and DVDs correctly.
Embedded air bubbles or inaccurate positioning of labels at high speeds can alter the smooth running of data disks. This can be overlooked in the case of slow audio CDs, but it does make a lot of difference when it comes to data CDs. There can still be some problems even if you take the utmost care while sticking on the label. As a rule, all materials expand as a result of fluctuations in humidity and temperature. The materials on a blank CD are already adjusted accordingly, but even then, a label disturbs that delicate balance. That is why it is always advisable to use a felt pen or a printer that prints on DVDs and CDs.
